IMPARTA Engineers and du Chateau Chun join the Halliwell group of companies

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – MAY 2025: Forensic and technical consultancy Halliwell has expanded its services in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region following two acquisitions in Australia: the acquisition of IMPARTA Engineers, an insurance-focused technical engineering and structural diagnostics consultancy; and the asset purchase of du Chateau Chun, a leading firm of specialist building regulation, code and compliance advisors. Both firms significantly broaden the existing suite of specialist services of the Halliwell group in APAC, which include Forensic & Engineering Science and Construction Services alongside expertise in fire science research, fire failure cause and origin, passive fire, building code services, building surveying, quantity surveying, industrial hygiene, and restoration services.

IMPARTA Engineers provides expertise in diagnostic investigation and causation reporting, structural assessment post-damage event, detailed repair documentation, and liability claims. Established in 1999 with four office locations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, IMPARTA Engineers is an established leader in Australia regarding the engineering and building aspects of insurance claims. Led by directors Phil Prider (Principal), Josh Miller (Managing Director), and Sibbe Lodenstein (Director), the firm works with major insurers, associated building companies, and lawyers. IMPARTA Engineers will introduce a new civil/structural and geotechnical engineering offering to Halliwell’s capabilities, with scope to expand both domestically and internationally.

Du Chateau Chun a specialist firm recognized as one of the leading authorities on building law, regulation, codes, and standards to the built environment in Australia. Established in 1987, today  du Chateau Chun has three office locations in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. The firm’s clients consist of insurers, law firms, owners, developers, commercial and financial institutions, and government entities. The two founding directors of the firm, Greg du Chateau and Marie Otteren, and their five specialist experts are now part of the Halliwell group of companies in Australia. The added code and compliance expertise of the du Chateau Chun team fills a current gap in Halliwell APAC comprehensive solution across the forensic and engineering science and construction services.

For the next six months, both firms will continue to operate under their respective brands with the addition of co-branded A HALLIWELL COMPANY, led by their founding directors, and report to Colin Taylor, Managing Director of Halliwell APAC, with a view to adopting the Halliwell Brand in due course.

The acquisitions come less than a month after Halliwell APAC officially launched its service in Malaysia by recruiting a team of prominent forensic and technical experts and opening a new office in Kuala Lumpur.

Phil Prider, Principal of IMPARTA Engineers: “We’ve established a market-leading business that excels in technical engineering and structural diagnostics. Becoming part of the renowned Halliwell group will allow us to extend our international reach and collaborate with a range of complementary business lines.”

Greg du Chateau, Co-founder and Director of du Chateau Chun“This acquisition is a significant milestone for du Chateau Chun and provides a strong platform for our next stage of growth. As part of the Halliwell group of companies, we see a huge opportunity to fast-track our expansion across the region.”

Colin Taylor, Managing Director of Halliwell APAC: We have a clear strategy for building a multidisciplinary offering in Australia and the Asia Pacific region more broadly. Both firms share our focus on offering specialist, technical consulting services to the insurance and related markets. These exciting developments will create new growth opportunities for us, generate additional benefits for our clients, and, most importantly, further enhance our competitive position in the region.”
